Let’s start off with what’s disappointing: First, the new 2017 Subaru XV Hybrid tS will be Japan only. But really, at this point, us Subaru fans are used to hearing that. Second, the powerplant remains unchanged, it’s powered by a 2.0-liter boxer engine coupled to a permanent magnet AC synchronous electric motor.
But then it gets cool. The XV Hybrid tS will come with an STI-tuned suspension, including upgraded dampers, front strut suspension, rear dampers, coil springs, a flexible tower bar and draw stiffener, and rigid clamp stiffeners.
On the exterior, the 2017 XV Hybrid tS comes with a ton of STI bits, including a dark grey front grille, front spoiler, side skirts with orange highlights, STI-badged fog lamps, roof spoiler, STI and tS badges, and beautiful 17-inch aluminum wheels with orange highlights.
Inside, the same orange color scheme carries over from the exterior. Also included are heated front seats in the black leather and black ultra-suede, headrests with orange stitching, piano black instrument panel, orange door armrests, beige door trims with orange stitching, and side sills with an STI logo.
The 2017 XV Hybrid tS will go on sale in Japan this fall. Pricing converted from Yen comes to $42,171. Could we see this come stateside? We hope so!
