The 2018 Subaru Crosstrek debuted last month at the Geneva Motor Show, showing off what the European model will offer. This time, the US Spec version gets its time to shine. Here’s what you need to know:
- All-new design language for exterior and interior
- Second model to use Subaru Global Platform
- 2.0-liter Boxer Engine with Direct Injection
- Active Torque Vectoring for improved handling
- Available X-Mode for off-road use
- New Driver Assist Technology
- New Multimedia system adds Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
The new Crosstrek is 0.6 inches longer and 0.9 inches wider than the outgoing model and the chassis is 70 percent more rigid. The new revised FB 2.0-liter BOXER now has direct fuel injection and other enhancements to gain 4 horsepower (152 vs 148).
Three trim levels will be offered, a Crosstrek 2.0i base model, Premium, and Limited. Safety has been upped a bit too with the new platform improving crash absorption by 40 percent over the outgoing. Unlike the European model we saw last month, the US version will offer a manual transmission on the 2.0i standard, with the CVT as an upgrade.
The 2.0i base is no slouch. It’ll offer a 6.5-inch multimedia touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, power windows, a 60/40-split fold-down rear seat, multi-function display, 17-inch machine finish alloy wheels, and integrated roof rails. Premium adds leather on the steering wheel, a shark fin antennae, the All-Weather Package with heated front seats, a power moonroof, and automatic headlights.
The top of the line Limited trim adds LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, Steering Responsive Headlights, exterior chrome trim, and the CVT equipped with X-Mode with hill-descent control. Inside, the Limited features a new high-contrast gray leather with orange double stitching on the seats, as well as a 6-way power driver’s seat, and an available harman/kardon premium audio system.
The new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek will arrive at dealerships this summer. What do you think of the new Crosstrek? Let us know in the comments.
